Zagatala

This design draws inspiration from the Zakatala medallion, traditionally featured on long rugs. The Zakatala district, also known as Zakataly, consists of a group of villages located about 75 miles north of Ganja in the central Caucasus. Due to its location, Zakatala motifs share many similarities with those from the Qazakh region. While these motifs are closely linked, they are recognized as a distinct group because they only began appearing in the Western market in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to the motifs highlighted here, Zakatala rugs often showcase Lesghi stars, Memling guls, and the Fachralo medallion.
