Zangazur
This piece draws inspiration from the engravings on stones that form a significant part of the Urud monument complex, located in the Garakilsa region of Zangazur mahal—historically Azerbaijani-Turkish territory. The complex features Urud Castle, unique gravestones in the Urud graveyard, and other historical monuments. These graceful artistic designs reflect the beliefs of ancient inhabitants of the Zangazur area. Perched on a sheer cliff, Urud Castle is bordered by the river Bazarchay on three sides and castle walls on the fourth. Locals say a secret underground path leads to the river. Unfortunately, after Armenians settled in the Zangazur area, the Urud complex’s name was changed, partially destroyed, and its ancient inscriptions were altered or erased.
