This model draws inspiration from ancient Baku’s symbols: two lions and an ox depicted on the arch of ‘Gosha Gala Gapilari’ (‘Twin Castle Gates’) at the main entrance to the old city. The ox represents the ancient city, while the lions signify the castle walls’ protection, both day and night.

Additionally, the piece features butas, or paisley motifs, known as ‘Buta of Baku’, reminiscent of patterns found on carpets woven in Baku. This widely recognized Eastern design element is typical of carpets from mountainous regions. While its symbolic meaning is debated, the ‘Buta of Baku’ is believed to symbolize fire and eternity.

Another version of this model captures the essence of the Shirvanshah Palace, located in the Icheri Sheher Historical-Architectural Reserve within the old city of Baku.
