Tea Ceremony
The tea ceremony is one of Azerbaijan’s ancient traditions. From official receptions to weddings, it symbolizes warmth and hospitality. Azerbaijanis often use the traditional armudu (pear-shaped) glass, a feature you can find on this brooch. In Azerbaijan, the saying about tea is “Çay nәdir, say nәdir,” meaning “when you drink tea, the cup count doesn’t matter.” Tea is continuously served when entertaining guests or during engaging conversations. Sometimes, thyme, mint, or rose water is added for its reputed benefits to the stomach and heart. Our jewelry piece also includes pakhlava and shekerbura, traditional Azerbaijani sweets made with hazelnuts or Circassian walnuts, milled clove, cardamom, and saffron.
