Iravan
The design of this model was inspired by the glazed tiles and paintings from the walls of Khan’s palace in Irevan. The Irevan tower and palace served as the residence of Irevan’s rulers, beys, and khans, with a 300-year history spanning from the Safavid dynasty to the Qajars. The city of Irevan and its tower thrived during the reigns of Huseinali Khan Qajar and his son, Muhammed Khan. Sardar Palace, constructed during Huseinali Khan’s reign and renovated by the esteemed architect Mirza Jafar Khoylu, was a key part of this period. In 1791, the completion of the Mirrored Salon and Summer Mansion in Muhammed Khan Qajar’s palace marked the culmination of this magnificent palace complex.
As per the history of the Irevan Khanate, the Sardar Palace began to deteriorate in the mid-19th century, leading to the relocation of paintings and other possessions to Tbilisi by the early 20th century. However, the palace remained a city landmark during the initial years of the Soviet Union. Tragically, the Irevan Tower was demolished in 1964 by Soviet Armenia. The ultimate fate of the palace and its artifacts remains a mystery to historians.
