Mingachevir
This jewelry piece is inspired by carvings on a 7th-century stone column discovered in Mingechevir, featuring two peacocks and a sacred tree. Although Mingechevir is a relatively new city, the region is one of Azerbaijan’s oldest inhabited areas. Historical accounts mention a significant battle between Roman warlord Pompey and Albanian Tsar Oris in the 1st century BC. Additionally, the ancient Silk Roads are believed to have passed through this area. Today, Mingechevir is a major industrial hub in Azerbaijan, housing the largest reservoir in the Caucasus, a Water Power Station series, and the Azerbaijan Thermal Power Station, the country’s main thermal energy supplier.
