Salyan
The Salyan carpet’s main features have inspired the design of this jewellery piece. Part of the Shirvan group in the Guba-Shirvan carpet-making tradition, the Salyan carpet boasts a rich and ancient heritage. Typically, these carpets feature two mythical birds and a central medallion with large octagonal designs. Beyond their beauty, these birds hold cosmic significance, traditionally believed to be linked to the sun. Salyan city, situated on the remains of an early 14th-century city at the Kura River’s estuary, is now the heart of Azerbaijan’s fishing industry. To reflect this heritage, the jewellery collection incorporates motifs of two fish and waves, symbolizing the Kura River.
