The design of our piece draws inspiration from the intricate patterns of Sheki latticework, a unique art form utilizing glass. Located in the breathtaking region of Azerbaijan, Sheki is among the oldest human settlements in the Caucasus, with archaeological evidence of habitation stretching back over 2,500 years. The majestic Sheki Khan Palace, built in the 18th century without a single nail or drop of glue, stands as a proud symbol of ancient Sheki. This building showcases latticework, a technique of assembling wood and colored glass. Known as a city of master artisans, craftsmen, and silk producers, Sheki was a key destination for merchants along the Silk Road. Consequently, great care was taken in constructing caravansarays, or merchants’ inns, whose windows were often adorned with vibrant and beautiful latticework.
