Zagatala
This piece draws inspiration from the Zakatala medallion, a design traditionally found on long rugs. The Zakatala district, located about 75 miles north of Ganja in the central Caucasus, comprises a cluster of villages. Given its proximity, motifs from Zakatala share similarities with those from the Qazakh region. However, these motifs are categorized separately because they mostly appear on 19th and early 20th-century rugs only recently introduced to the Western market. Besides the motifs mentioned, Zakatala rugs also feature Lesghi stars, Memling guls, and the Fachralo medallion.
