Crivelli Star
These pieces are inspired by the ornament known as the Crivelli Star, named after Carlo Crivelli, an Italian Renaissance painter renowned for incorporating this design into the carpets featured in his artworks. These carpets are often regarded as Ottoman Turkish carpets; one specimen from the 15th century is housed at the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest. However, the largest collection of rugs featuring 16-point medallions is found in Caucasian carpets originating from Guba and Dagestan.
