Iravan
The wall panels of Khan’s palace in Irevan, adorned with glazed tiles and paintings, inspired this model’s design. The Irevan tower and palace served as the residence for the city’s rulers, beys, and khans, boasting a 300-year history from the Safavid dynasty to the Qajars. Irevan thrived under Huseinali Khan Qajar and his son Muhammed Khan, during which time the Sardar Palace was erected. Renowned architect Mirza Jafar Khoylu later renovated it. The construction of the Mirrored Salon and Summer Mansion in 1791 completed Muhammed Khan Qajar’s grand palace complex.
According to the history of the Irevan Khanate, the Sardar Palace began to deteriorate in the mid-19th century, leading to the relocation of its artworks and other valuables to Tbilisi in the early 20th century. However, the palace remained a prominent city landmark in the early Soviet years until the Irevan Tower’s demolition in 1964 by Soviet Armenia. Sadly, the true fate of the palace and its treasures remains a mystery to historians.
