Khantirma

The model draws inspiration from vine meanders, enhanced by ascending butas. This motif serves as a central element of the 19th-century carpet, Khan Tirme, woven in the Agjebedi district of Garabakh. In this context, “Khan” means “duke,” and “tirme” refers to a type of scarf fabric. Therefore, this ornamental pattern was originally meant for a duke’s scarves.
