Kochak
This design draws inspiration from the popular margin pattern commonly found in Pirebedil (Shirvan), Göllu-Chichi (Quba), and other carpets. Known as the Kufesque margin, its early forms can be seen in fourteenth-century rugs. These patterns are closely linked to decorations using the Kufic script, the oldest calligraphic style of Arabic. Widely used in 8th to 10th century manuscripts, Kufic script also adorned arch inscriptions in mosques during the early Mongol period.
