Kufesque
This piece takes inspiration from the popular margin pattern found in Pirebedil (Shirvan), Göllu-Chichi (Quba), and other carpets, known as the Kufesque margin. Early examples of this design can be seen in fourteenth-century rugs, which feature patterns closely linked to Kufic script decoration, the oldest calligraphic form of Arabic. Kufic script was predominant in manuscripts during the 8th to 10th centuries and adorned arch inscriptions in mosques during the early Mongol period.
