Pomegranate Garden

The pomegranate holds a powerful place as an ancient symbol, rich in meaning across many cultures and major religions. In Judaism, it represents righteousness, believed to contain 613 seeds, which align with the 613 mitzvot or commandments of the Torah. It further symbolizes fruitfulness, knowledge, and wisdom. In Christianity, the pomegranate is seen as a symbol of resurrection and the hope of eternal life. Within Chinese symbolism, it signifies fertility due to its abundance of seeds.

The Qur’an also references pomegranates, with legend suggesting each fruit contains one seed from the paradise pomegranate. Like in many applied arts, pomegranates are depicted in carpets throughout Asia and the Middle East, emblematic of fertility.
