Pomegranate Garden

The pomegranate is a powerful ancient symbol, rich in meaning across numerous traditions and major religions. In Judaism, it represents righteousness, as it is believed to have 613 seeds, corresponding to the 613 mitzvot, or commandments, of the Torah. Additionally, it symbolizes fruitfulness, knowledge, and wisdom. In Christianity, the pomegranate signifies resurrection and the hope of eternal life. In Chinese culture, it symbolizes fertility due to its abundance of seeds.

The pomegranate is also mentioned in the Qur’an, where legend suggests that each fruit contains one seed (or aril) from the paradise pomegranate. Like many other applied arts, the pomegranate is depicted on carpets throughout Asia and the Middle East as a symbol of fertility.
