Salyan
The primary elements of the Salyan carpet inspired this jewellery model. Belonging to the Shirvan group of Guba-Shirvan carpet-making, the Salyan carpet boasts a rich, ancient history. Typically, these carpets feature two mythical birds and a central medallion, often accompanied by large octagonal medallions. Besides symbolizing beauty, these birds hold a cosmic significance, traditionally linked to the sun.
Salyan city, built on the ruins of a 14th-century settlement at the Kura River estuary, is now the heart of Azerbaijan’s fishing industry. Reflecting this heritage, the Salyan jewellery pieces in our collection depict two fish and wave motifs, symbolizing the Kura River.
