Inspired by the central medallion of the renowned Sheikh-Safi carpet, this model reflects the exquisite craftsmanship commissioned in 1539 by Safavid ruler Tahmasib I for the central mosque of Ardabil. Acquired by the British in 1893, the original carpet is now displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
