Three Apples
I cherished the time spent with my grandma—whom we affectionately called “Ana,” meaning “mama” in Azerbaijani—especially during the summer breaks in the village. We followed a cherished tradition: at bedtime, we’d enjoy country tandir bread with yogurt while listening to her enchanting fairytales. Stories of ‘divs’ (ogres), dragons, fairies, and pehlivans filled our nights. Each tale concluded with a traditional saying: “Three apples fell from above – one for me, the second for the storyteller, and the third for myself.”
This cherished memory is beautifully captured in the design of these earrings, dedicated to my grandmother and to all grandmothers.
