Tovuz

The design is inspired by the emblem of Tovuz and the ancient Tovuz carpets. Though Tovuz was recently designated a city, the region is one of Azerbaijan’s oldest human settlements and was home to indigenous people. This is evidenced by numerous ancient monuments found in the area and the unique patterns and images on antique plates discovered during archaeological excavations. Ashuq music, a vital part of Tovuz folklore and culture, is symbolically represented in the pieces by the national musical instrument, the ‘Saz’.
