Zangazur
This jewelry piece is inspired by the engravings on stone that form a significant part of the Urud monument complex, located in the Garakilsa region of Zangazur mahal, historically Azerbaijani-Turkish territory. The complex features Urud Castle, distinctive gravestones in the Urud graveyard, and other historical monuments. These artistic monuments elegantly embody the beliefs of the ancient people of the Zangazur area. Perched on a sheer cliff, Urud Castle is surrounded by the Bazarchay River on three sides and fortified by castle walls on the other. Local legends speak of a secret underground passage leading to the river. Sadly, after Armenians settled in the Zangazur region, the name of the Urud complex was changed, parts of it were destroyed, and the ancient inscriptions were altered or erased.
