Islimi Buta

This jewellery piece draws inspiration from the fusion of two ornaments: buta and islimi. Buta, one of the oldest and most cherished oriental designs, is symbolically interpreted in various forms—ranging from a pinecone and palm crown to a flame, each with religious significance as emblems of immanence and eternal life. Islimi is a beloved Islamic decorative theme, characterized by a split leaf design known as “arabesque” or “tendril.” This ornamentation is particularly popular in Azerbaijan.
