Pomegranate

The pomegranate is a powerful symbol with rich historical significance, prevalent in various traditions and major religions. In Judaism, it symbolizes righteousness, believed to contain 613 seeds corresponding to the 613 mitzvot, or commandments of the Torah, and also represents fruitfulness, knowledge, and wisdom. In Christianity, the pomegranate symbolizes resurrection and the hope of eternal life, while in Chinese symbolism, it represents fertility due to its many seeds. The Qur’an references pomegranates, with legends claiming each contains one seed from the paradise pomegranate. Like many applied arts, pomegranates are featured in carpets across Asia and the Middle East, symbolizing fertility.
