Three Apples
I fondly remember spending time with my grandma, whom we affectionately called “ana,” meaning “mama” in Azerbaijani, especially during the summer holidays in the village. We had a cherished tradition: at bedtime, we’d savor country tandir bread and yogurt while listening to her enchanting fairytales. Tales of divs (ogres), dragons, fairies, pehlivans, and more would always conclude with the traditional saying: “Three apples fell from above – one for me, the second for the storyteller, and the third for myself.” This cherished memory inspired the design of these earrings, dedicated to my grandmother and grandmothers everywhere.
