This model draws inspiration from ancient Baku’s symbols: the two lions and ox depicted on the arch of ‘Gosha Gala Gapilari’ (‘Twin Castle Gates’) at the main entrance to Baku’s old city. The ox represents the ancient city, while the lions signify the round-the-clock protection of the castle walls.

The piece also features butas or paisley motifs, known as ‘Buta of Baku’, which appear in carpets woven in Baku. This widely-used eastern design is characteristic of carpets from mountainous regions. While its symbolic meaning is debated, the ‘Buta of Baku’ is believed to symbolize fire and eternity.

Another version of this model reflects the architectural beauty of the Shirvanshah Palace, located in the Icheri Sheher Historical-Architectural Reserve in old Baku.
