Shaki

This jewellery piece draws inspiration from the intricate patterns of Sheki’s latticework, a unique art form featuring colored glass. Nestled in one of the most scenic regions of Azerbaijan, Sheki is among the oldest human settlements in the Caucasus, with archaeological findings dating back over 2,500 years. The magnificent Sheki Khan Palace is a testament to the city’s rich history; erected in the 18th century, it stands without the aid of nails or glue, utilizing latticework—a technique that combines wood and colored glass. Renowned for its master artisans, craftsmen, and silk producers, Sheki was a key destination for merchants along the Silk Road. This heritage influenced the meticulous construction of caravansarays, or merchants’ inns, whose windows were adorned with vibrant, beautiful latticework.
