Chalabi
Inspired by the central medallion of the Chalabi carpets from the Garabagh carpet school in Azerbaijan, this piece embodies unique artistry. These carpets feature a captivating and mysterious medallion at their core. Apart from Chalabis, this design appears only in the Barjid carpets of South Azerbaijan and nowhere else in the Orient.
The medallion is believed to depict a double-headed bird, a mythological guardian of Paradise in the Orient. A cruciform at its center symbolizes the four primal elements: earth, water, wind, and fire.
