Dragon
This piece draws inspiration from the renowned margin pattern found in Pirebedil (Shirvan), Göllu-Chichi (Quba), and other types of carpets. Its design, known as the Kufesque margin, can be traced back to fourteenth-century rugs that incorporate motifs akin to those found in Kufic script decoration—the oldest form of Arabic calligraphy. Kufic script was prominent in 8th to 10th-century manuscripts and was used for arch inscriptions in mosques during the early Mongol period.
