Mahi

Named after the city of Herat, “Herati” designs resemble fish and water garden patterns, featuring canals and other aquatic themes. For this reason, it is called the “mahi”—meaning fish in Persian. The two fish from the Herati water garden ornament symbolize marital happiness.
