Marby
This jewelry piece draws inspiration from the Marby rug, likely crafted during the early Ottoman period in Anatolia. Discovered in 1925 in two pieces, the rug was found in the abandoned church of Marby, a village in Jämtland, Sweden. This type of rug, known for its animal motifs, features stylized birds symmetrically positioned on either side of a tree, all framed within octagons against an ivory background. The motif of birds and trees is well-known and popular in Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
Another interpretation suggests the design is divided into three sections, symbolizing three realms: the heavens at the top, the human world in the center, and the underworld at the bottom. The two birds in the center may symbolize a man and a woman, representing elemental beings.
