Mughan
This model draws inspiration from Mughan carpets, which blend elements from various Azerbaijani regions near the Kura and Araz rivers, such as Sabirabad, Jalilabad, Saatli, and Bilasuvar. The central motif of these ornaments is a hooked design known as the ‘kehna pattern.’ Some sources suggest this element symbolizes a 12-year cycle. In ancient Turkish calendars, time was measured in 12-year periods, with each year represented by a different animal (constellation). Notably, early Dutch artist Hans Memling (1438–1494) incorporated Mughan carpets in his paintings. These carpets are displayed in numerous museums worldwide.
