Pomegranate

The pomegranate is a powerful ancient symbol, rich in meaning and revered across various cultures and major religions. In Judaism, it symbolizes righteousness, said to have 613 seeds that correspond to the 613 mitzvot, or commandments, of the Torah. It also embodies fruitfulness, knowledge, and wisdom. In Christianity, the pomegranate represents resurrection and the hope of eternal life. In Chinese culture, it symbolizes fertility, as the fruit is abundant with seeds. The Qur’an also references pomegranates, with legends suggesting each contains one aril from the paradise pomegranate. Like in many applied arts, the pomegranate appears in carpets across Asia and the Middle East, symbolizing fertility.
