Rose
In the 19th century, the Russian Empire began to follow French fashion trends. This affected their preferences for rugs –interest in French style rugs emerged. As fine rugs were woven in the Caucasus, the popular French design of a cabbage rose came here. This design appears mostly in 19th century Garabagh rugs and can also be found on the rugs of Guba. The cabbage rose is called such due to its numerous petals that create a large, full bloom resembling a cabbage.
