Shaki

This model draws inspiration from the intricate patterns of Sheki latticework, a distinctive art form using glass. Nestled in Azerbaijan’s most scenic region, Sheki is one of the oldest human settlements in the Caucasus, with archaeological evidence of habitation over 2,500 years old. The magnificent Sheki Khan Palace, an 18th-century marvel, was crafted without a single nail or drop of glue, using exquisite latticework that combines wood and colored glass. Renowned as a city of masters, artisans, and silk producers, Sheki attracted merchants from across the Silk Road. Consequently, significant attention was given to constructing caravansaries, merchants’ accommodations, with windows adorned in vibrant and beautiful latticework.
