Buludlu

This piece draws inspiration from the prominent Azerbaijani “Bulud” ornament, featuring a cloud motif. This ancient design, known as the “Chi” element in China, signifies eternity. It’s thought that the ornament became pervasive in Azerbaijani folk art following the Mongolian invasion, gaining popularity in local decorations. The Buludlu pattern adorned ceramics, metalwork, architecture, carpet weaving, and eventually appeared in miniatures and book design.
