Garabagh Chalabi
This ring draws inspiration from the central medallion of Chelebi carpets from the Garabakh carpet school in Azerbaijan. These carpets are truly unique, featuring a captivating and enigmatic central medallion. In addition to the Chelebis, this design appears in Barjid carpets of South Azerbaijan and is found nowhere else in the Orient. The medallion is believed to represent a double-headed bird, thought to guard Paradise in oriental mythology. A cruciform at the center symbolizes the four primal elements: earth, water, air, and fire. The ring is adorned with the fantastic birds often woven into Chelebi rugs.
