Islimi
The ring features a motif inspired by the popular “Islimi” borders, commonly found in architecture, carpets, and other applied arts with Islamic decorative themes. Islimi, often described as a split leaf, is also known as “Arabesque” or “Tendril.” This design, presumably derived from a Sassanian motif, evolved under the Abbasids in the 9th and 10th centuries and reached maturity with the Seljuks in the 12th and 13th centuries. The motif is believed to originate from a leaf considered sacred in ancient times. Some scholars suggest that the name “Islimi” is linked to Islam, given its prevalent use in Islamic art.
