Islimi

The bridal ring features a variation of the popular “Islimi” borders, commonly seen in architecture, carpets, and other forms of applied art with an Islamic decorative theme. Islimi, also known as “Arabesque” or “Tendril,” can be described as a split leaf design. This motif, likely derived from a Sassanian source, evolved under the Abbasids in the ninth and tenth centuries and reached maturity with the Seljuks in the 12th to 13th centuries. The design is believed to originate from a leaf considered sacred in ancient times. Some scholars suggest the name “Islimi” stems from Islam, given its prevalent use in Islamic art.
