These pieces are inspired by geometric and curvilinear motifs, featuring fantastic birds and islimi designs. Fantastic birds symbolize protection and, in some interpretations, immortality. Islimi is a popular Islamic decorative theme, characterized by a split leaf known as “islimi,” also called “arabesque” or “tendril.” It is one of the most popular ornaments in Azerbaijan.
