Pomegranate

The Pomegranate, a powerful ancient symbol, is rich in meaning and featured in various traditions and major religions. In Judaism, it symbolizes righteousness, as it’s believed to contain 613 seeds, aligning with the 613 mitzvot, or commandments, of the Torah. The pomegranate represents fruitfulness, knowledge, and wisdom. In Christianity, it symbolizes resurrection and the hope of eternal life. In Chinese culture, pomegranates signify fertility due to their abundance of seeds. Several references to pomegranates appear in the Qur’an, with legends claiming that each fruit contains one seed (aril) from the pomegranate in paradise. Like many applied arts, pomegranates are depicted in carpets throughout Asia and the Middle East as a symbol of fertility.
