Salyan
The Salyan carpet’s main elements inspired this jewellery model, drawing from the rich and ancient heritage of the Shirvan group within the Guba-Shirvan carpet-making tradition. These carpets typically feature two mythical birds, a central medallion, and large octagonal shapes. Beyond symbolizing beauty, the birds also hold a cosmic meaning related to the sun. Salyan, established on the remains of a 14th-century city at the Kura River’s estuary, is now the heart of Azerbaijan’s fishing industry. Reflecting this connection, the jewellery in this collection showcases motifs of two fish and waves, representing the Kura River.
