Shabi-Hijran

This piece draws inspiration from the “Shabi-Hijran” (1975) carpet, created from Latif Karimov’s sketches. Karimov, an expert in decorative applied arts, specialized in Eastern and Azerbaijani carpets, and was a renowned ornamental painter and scholar. His extensive study of Azerbaijani carpets enriched the art with new ornaments and decorative motifs rooted in traditional elements. In designing the Shabi-Hijran carpet, Karimov was influenced by the works of Mahammad Fuzuli, a distinguished medieval Azerbaijani poet, thinker, and philosopher.
