Shaki

Inspired by the intricate patterns of Sheki latticework, a distinctive art form crafted with glass, this model pays homage to Sheki’s rich heritage. Nestled in the picturesque region of Azerbaijan, Sheki is one of the oldest human settlements in the Caucasus, with archaeological evidence dating back over 2,500 years. The magnificent Sheki Khan Palace, a symbol of Sheki’s proud past, was constructed in the 18th century without a single nail or drop of glue. Its architecture showcases latticework, a technique of assembling wood and colored glass. Celebrated as a city of master craftsmen and silk producers, Sheki attracted merchants from across the Silk Road. Consequently, great attention was given to the construction of caravansarays—merchant hotels—whose windows were adorned with vibrantly colored and beautiful latticework.
