Gazakh

For centuries, Gazakh and its surrounding villages have been renowned as a prominent carpet-weaving center in Azerbaijan. Gazakh carpets, distinguished by their unique ornaments, have captivated foreign buyers and earned prestigious spots in various museums worldwide, including the Berlin Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Hermitage, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Budapest Art Museum.

This jewelry piece draws inspiration from the ‘Aghajly’ carpet of Shikhly, an integral part of the Gazakh carpet-weaving tradition. Shikhly carpets are esteemed as classic exemplars of Azerbaijani folk art. The elongated centerpiece of the design resembles a cypress tree, a symbol of holiness in the Middle East, including Azerbaijan.
