Islimi Buta

This piece draws inspiration from the fusion of two ornate designs: buta and islimi. Buta is one of the oldest and most cherished oriental motifs, with meanings ranging from pinecone and palmcrown to flame, symbolizing immanence and eternal life. Islimi, also known as “arabesque” or “tendril,” is a beloved Islamic decorative theme with its characteristic split leaf pattern. It stands as one of the most popular ornaments in Azerbaijan.
