This exquisite jewellery piece is inspired by the motifs found in dragon carpets, celebrated as some of the finest works of the Garabagh carpet school. Renowned for their intricate designs, these carpets often depict mystical creatures and were primarily woven in Garabagh, Shirvan, and Guba between the 16th and 18th centuries. Dragon motifs have also been discovered on textile fragments from the Ilkhanid period (13th–14th centuries).

In Azerbaijani decorative arts, the dragon motif represents positive energy and is thought to symbolize water sources in folk literature. In ancient Turkic mythology, dragons like ‘Büke,’ ‘Evren,’ ‘Kök-luu,’ and ‘Abyrga’ were symbols of power and strength. Historical texts mention the ‘Dragon City’ of the ancient Huns, while in Kipchak culture, the ‘Begsha’ dragon represented the family hearth. Furthermore, many Safavid-era carpets incorporate dragon motifs into their designs.
