Tree of life

The design of this piece is inspired by the shape of a tree. Tree-like patterns are popular in carpet weaving and are often linked to the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life symbolizes the connection between the three levels of the ancient Orient: paradise, the human world, and the underworld. It was believed these realms were connected by a great vertical axis located at the center. The concept of representing this axis as a tree is ancient and appears in various art forms beyond carpets.
