Tree of life

This piece is inspired by tree shapes, a motif popular in carpet weaving and often linked to the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life symbolizes the connection between the three realms of the ancient Orient: paradise, the human world, and the underworld. These realms were believed to be unified by a great vertical axis at their center. Depicting this world axis as a tree is an ancient concept found in many art forms, not just carpets.
