Flower and Pomegranate

The pomegranate is a powerful ancient symbol, rich in meaning and found across numerous traditions and major religions. In Judaism, it symbolizes righteousness, as it is believed to have 613 seeds, corresponding to the 613 mitzvot, or commandments, of the Torah. Additionally, the pomegranate represents fruitfulness, knowledge, and wisdom. In Christianity, the pomegranate symbolizes resurrection and the hope of eternal life. Within Chinese symbolism, it stands for fertility, due to the abundance of seeds. The Qur’an also references pomegranates, with legend stating that each one contains a seed (aril) from the pomegranate in paradise. Much like in other applied arts, the pomegranate is depicted in carpets across Asia and the Middle East, symbolizing fertility.
