For centuries, Gazakh and its neighboring villages have been renowned centers of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan. Carpets from the Gazakh school have captivated foreign buyers with their distinctive ornaments and occupy esteemed positions in esteemed museums worldwide, including the Berlin Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Hermitage, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Budapest Art Museum.

This particular design is inspired by the ‘Aghajly’ carpet from Shikhly, a part of the Gazakh carpet-weaving tradition. Shikhly carpets are celebrated as quintessential examples of Azerbaijani folk art. The elongated element in the center resembles a cypress tree, a sacred symbol in the Middle East and Azerbaijan.
